Answers to 3 Big Retirement Questions

You will finish with answers to the three biggest questions about retirement.

15-Minute Phone Call

The first step is a 15-minute call with Jim or David.

Your Free Retirement Evaluation

This call will help us to decide if we both feel like working together will be a good fit. We are looking for a long-term relationship, so we only want to move forward if we are both comfortable.

If we decide it’s not a good fit, we will do our best to help you find another adviser in town that can help you.
During this meeting, we are going to ask some questions so we can clearly understand your current situation. We can only do our best work if we are fully clear on your goals, concerns and unique financial situation.

Before we have this meeting, there are a few documents we will ask for. This information will help guide our analysis to answering the three most important retirement questions.
We will use our 20+ year of financial planning experience, Nobel-prize winning research, as well as thousands of hours of training to answer three of the biggest retirement questions:

  • Can you afford to retire?
  • Are you overpaying on your taxes?
  • Can improvements be made to your portfolio?
With your Retirement Evaluation complete, we will have a second meeting to go over our findings together.

We will explain our findings to you in a simple and easy to understand way. (Remember, simple is almost always better than complex!)

We understand that making a decision to hire a financial advisor is a big deal, so we will ask if you are ready to work with us, or if you would prefer to take your time and think about it.
Again, we want to work with you for the long term, so we want you to take as much time as you need before deciding to work with us.
Some things to consider before deciding to work with us:

  • Do I like and trust the HWM team?
  • Do the benefits outweigh the cost?
  • Do I agree with and understand their investment philosophy?
  • Do our recommendations make sense to you?
During this meeting we will talk about any questions you may still have, and if you are ready to move forward, start the paperwork necessary for you to become a client.

*While we hope we will be able to work with you, if you decide that working together isn’t a good fit, we will wish you all the best. In other words, we will never pressure you to work with us in any way. We take this commitment very seriously at HWM.

Step #1: Schedule 15-Minute Phone Call

Is working with Heritage Wealth Management a good fit for me?

We focus specifically on retirement planning and work best with:

People over the age of 50 who want to know if they are on track for retirement.

Diligent savers who have accumulated investment and retirement assets of $250,000 or more.  (Excluding real estate.)

People who want to delegate retirement planning and portfolio management to an expert so they can spend time on what’s most important to them.

Still Have Questions?

The majority of our asset management is on a fee basis, as opposed to selling a product and making a commission. We have one simple and transparent fee that we charge, and do not charge additional planning fees for the financial planning that we provide. Our goal is to reduce your taxes, lower your risk, and to make sure you can retire without worrying about running out of money.
At this point we do not offer this as an option. We believe that we do our best work when working with clients on a long term planning based relationship.

If you would like to work with a firm that charges a one time fee or works on an hourly basis, we would be happy to make an introduction for you.
There are four things about our firm we feel are very important and make us different than other advisors:
1. We exclusively do retirement planning for people who are 50 and above. We specialize in working with clients approaching their retirement years and making sure they don’t run out of money.
2. We have a very limited number of clients that we work with. Both Jim and David have a strict limit of 100 household relationships they work with, and once they reach that amount they will no longer be taking on more clients. We want to have a deep planning relationship with our clients and that isn’t possible if we are trying to manage too many relationships.
3. We want to work closely with your other advisors (Insurance, Estate, Accountant Etc.) to make sure everyone is on the same page and that the best planning possible is being done for our clients.
4. We ask for our clients’ tax-returns each year so we can review it and make sure we aren’t missing any opportunities. We simply cannot do the best planning possible unless we are reviewing our clients tax returns on an annual basis. (When is the last time your advisor asked for a copy of your tax return?)
This might be one of the most important questions you can ask, but first we want to tell you why you shouldn’t hire us.

If you are looking for an advisor who claims they can “beat the market”, we are not the advisors for you. We feel that it is important for us to focus on things we can control. What is happening in the markets or interest rates on a particular day is not something we have control of. What we can do is manage risk effectively.

If, however, you are looking to lower what you pay in taxes, invest in a smarter way, and look at ways to generate income in retirement, then you are in the right place.
